The Cups and Balls routine is a classic and signature effect amongst all magic effects. It has spawned many different versions and handlings throughout the history of Magic, but its core method and concept have never changed.
The routine includes many types of magic effects, such as Vanishes, Productions, Transpositions, and even Transformations. The entire routine is presented on the desktop, making it look extremely elegant. To a certain extent, elegance should be an idiosyncrasy all magicians should adopt.
Most professional magicians have their own version of the Cups and Balls routine and deeply believe that it is the path to becoming a true magician (Michael Ammar's Cups and Balls is genius). Each magician tries to add different seasonings to the routine to create their uniquely tasting dish.
Studying the Cups and Balls routine can help you understand magic better as a whole.
The minimalist form of the Cups and Balls is a single Cup and Ball, and the sharpest weapon available in the single Cups and Ball armory is the Chop Cup (the inventor of the Chop Cup is Al Wheatley, here's a tribute).
The core point of the Chop Cup is that it is effortless to get started. At the same time, it does not diminish the magic; rather, some believe it is even more magical, making it a great choice if you do not have much time to practice.
That is why we are here today——Enter the TCC leather Chop Cup.
The set includes 2 Mini leather baseballs (1 regular, 1 gimmicked) and basic routine instructions (the trailer routine is not included).
I bought this for my son after I bought one for myself, once mine arrived I knew that my son had to have one . Excellent finish and quality, the baseball's are excellent I also have the Leo Semester chop balls which are brilliant but not as good as the ones from TCC . Cannot be more pleased many thanks to the TCC team .
The leather Chop Cup by TCC is my favorite Chop Cup primarily because it looks so innocent along with being a beautiful leather prop. I find the magnet to be just the right strength and the cup an absolute pleasure to handle.
Just the right size. Can be done standing up with or without a table.
This is a beautifully made cup. I especially love the standard size balls and final loads. The magnet works great.
I found a chop cup that I really appreciate. This is a a well constructed product that feels good to use. The balls are so cool!
This travels with me.
I am an amateur/hobbyist magician and not a professional. This said, I love this chop cup and it is the best one I have ever seen or used. Like everything else I have encountered from TCC, it is beautifully made and of high quality. The supplied little baseballs are also well-made and the amount of "stick" between the gimmick ball and the cup is perfect; not too much and not too little- just right. As always. the supplied tutorial is very good, although in this case the video differs from the routine shown in the advertisements (yes, this really is the best routine I have ever seen- this is no exaggeration as stated in the advertisement). The ability to squeeze the flexible leather cup increases the flexibility of loads since a smaller load can be retained within the cup and will not fall out when the cup is squeezed and inverted. This is an advantage compared to rigid cups. I personally prefer slight of hand effects rather than gadgets/gimmicks, but the classic chop cup represents (for me) the perfect blend of slight of hand and a little gadgetry. Here, as elsewhere, TCC has refreshed older ideas and updated them; teaching an old dog new tricks. I am a big fan!
It's a pity that the leather has been dented and there are scratches on the leather. The quality is a bit disappointing, but it's pretty.
