Seemingly Swallow Sharp Surgical Blade in a Safe and Easy Way.
The magician removes a surgical scalpel and uses it to easily cut through a piece of white paper to prove its sharpness, the magician then places the blade into his/her mouth in front of the audience and swallows it without hesitation.
As the audience members are still stunned, the magician takes out more blades and swallows them one after another. The actions are very clean.
The magician then pulls off a piece of thread from a spool, puts it into his mouth, chews a few times, and pulls the thread out of his mouth little by little...
Magically, the blades swallowed by the magician are now strung one by one on the thread as the thread is pulled out. The magician remains unharmed.
The familiar scene above is from the classic effect known as the Razor Blade Swallowing Effect. The routine is interactive and thrilling. There is also a twin effect called Needles Swallowing.
These two effects have left a strong mark on the history of magic, seen in various magic shows and TV programs.
However, the razor blades and sewing needles versions have always had their advantages and disadvantages:
With razor blades, the effect would be stronger, but the blades are too large and you need to load and unload on the stage, which could be not as clean.
With sewing needles, you can load in advance, and do not need to unload immediately, resulting in a cleaner performance, but the effect is seemingly weaker.
An old Chinese proverb says, "You can't have both fish and bear's paw", In other words, there is something that has to be sacrificed. However, Treey has found an excellent solution to overcome these two disadvantages.
We call it The Blade.
Its advantages over traditional versions are as follows.
Firstly, The Blades used are surgical blades. The surgical blade itself gives the impression of cutting into flesh like tofu. Placing such a sharp object in the mouth brings more sensory stimulation to the audience.
In addition to enhancing the visual effect compared to sewing needles, surgical blades make it easier to load and unload compared to razor blades.
Secondly, for the safety of the performance, each blade you put into your mouth will be hand polished by Treey. It looks sharp but is harmless.
Lastly, we have introduced an acrylic blade holder for the audience to examine the blades. After the audience determines the blades are genuine, you just need to flip the blade holder around to switch them for the gimmicked blades. The blade holder makes the operation easier and gives a more professional appearance during the performance.
All the details above are well thought out. It is a routine Treey has polished over years of his commercial shows.
10 genuine surgical blades, incredibly sharp.
10 hand-polished gimmicked blades, seemingly sharp but harmless.
A scalpel holder that allows for the quick assembly and removal of blades with one's bare hands, making it more ritualistic and safer for the audience to examine the blades, and more visible during stage performances.
An acrylic blade holder which combines the features of loading and display. Includes removable magnets at the bottom to stabilize the blades.
A spool of cotton thread for performing. The hollow part in the middle of the spool can be used to load during the performance.
A black flannel bag for storage and transport. Without the blade holder and thread, you can use it in a close-up scenario.
A new interpretation of a classic effect. Visual and easy to do.
Includes hand-polished blades, safe and reliable.
The acrylic blade holder facilitates loading and display.
Suitable for stage interactive performance and close-up scenarios.
Detailed online instruction.
Notes: This effect is used for professional performances. Although it has been specially polished, the Purchaser should use it as instructed to avoid harm. The Purchaser must be 18 years old or older.
Great trick and super design! It’s amazing. You can feel all the emotions that the audience feels when they see you performing it. Incredible!
Nice props ! Glad I purchased this trick
I am very pleased with "The Blade." Everything is well-made and functions as advertised. I am sure that I will be performing this effect for many years. The tutorial was helpful and on point. I recommend not only this product, but also TTC Magic.
This is a amazing illusion When you get the method It's a stunning piece of magic
Amazing variation of a wellknown classic. This version fits my style and I'm glad with the TCC release of it.
Great quality and concept I really like this trick
great size, very soft, color catches the eye, but easy enough to be hidden. they look too big to hide and that gives you an advantage. have had no issue executing the standard sleights. definitely a win over standard goshman or loftus sponges, not only in quality but also the price.
The trick is very cleverly done. I will add it to my show immediately. It looks super dangerous, but the risk is very low. Thank you TCC for giving the magic community such amazing tricks.
I love this effect on people! This has legs and easily works into other elements! So much fun with HUGE audience enjoyment. This is a great walking around track. I love it.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve been developing a new needle-swallowing routine. In it, the number of needles is less important than actually seeing them go into my mouth. I’d considered Razor Blades, but I need to speak throughout the routine, so I had more or less dropped that idea. Then about two weeks ago, I saw The Blade from TCC. I ordered one the moment I saw it. Instead of needles or razor blades (which frankly are pretty uncommon today), The Blade uses surgical or scalpel blades. It’s such a great idea and one I was so certain I would perform, that I was tempted not to write this review! Anyone looking for a clever method like Jim Steinmeyer’s, Scott Alexander’s, or Terri Rogers’ that allows you to do the trick without putting potentially life-threatening objects in your mouths will have to keep looking. The Blade has some very nice touches and comes with absolutely everything you need to begin practicing and performing this trick, but the basic method is pretty old-school. As I mentioned, I need my audience to see the blades actually go into my mouth; and they will in The Blade. There is nothing significantly missing from the TCC preview video - the effect looks that direct. So again, the big difference for me in this routine is the ability to apparently swallow something visibly bigger than a needle, and then keep talking. Now, I am not a physically big guy so I will probably not be giving my on-stage helper a flashlight to use to examine the inside of my mouth. I imagine, though, there are many people whose anatomy would allow them to do so if desired. If you wanted to create your own version of this trick with scalpel blades, you’d almost certainly end up spending the same amount of money as you would simply buying The Blade. It’s a novel improvement and a good value.
very nice materials in nice packaging.
the tutorial is clear as water.
I recommend it if you like to give new life to old classic
Very nicely made. Looks like a carrying holder that I have seen for xacto blades. Love the idea of these blades rather than razor blades!
An Excellent well made prop, a well thought out professional quality device which a lot of thought has been put into. Having a hidden magnet within the device (which is not mentioned in the description) is also very clever and opens up added utilities for different handling methods also (not described within the provided instructions, but anyone familiar with Needle/Razor swallowing methods may be familiar).
I highly recommend this item to anyone who works Razors/needle acts already.
I shall be including mine within my performances (PSYCHO KEV) along side my other versions.
